Ixzara was taken over in 1814 by Russia when the region was abandoned by the Italic tribes that formerly occupied rome some 700 years earlier. Although Russia had claimed control of the region since the 1500s, it was not recognized due to the lack of population in the area (estimated at some 120,000 in 1812). However in the 1840s after having seen the european nations lose their claims in latin america, Russia decided to give the region the status of a "depencency". Even thought the region remained quiet for most of the century, in 1897, tension between the central government and the dependency began after troop movements from the central government were detected near the eastern border of the region, whose population at the time skyrocketed to near 12.3 million, causing mass opposition within the dependency.
In 1912 during WW I, the region claimed a short period of independence as several Pons Aelius and Freedomstaki troops occupied the area in an attempt to keep Germany from taking over the Balkans and Italian peninsula.
However in 1918, after all the troops withdrew from the region, several Russian infantries stormed the region in several large-scale attempts to "secure" the region. Casualties in the area were estimated at above 3.6 Million, outraging the rest of the world, and sparking several protests within Russia and several of the nations bordering it. Protests in a province known as Chechnya were so bad troops were sent in to quelm the fighting, which unfortunately proved succesful after 1.2 Million civilians were killed in the provincial capital.
In 1943, the region was lost to Germany which occupied the region for the sole purpose of killing anyone of non-aryan blood. However, the intelligent population fled the area en masse to Chechnya for political assylum, leaving the region with a population of less than 5,000 people.
Althought the Soviet Union reclaimed the region in 1947, with no people to govern, the central government encouraged the people of other nations to emmigrate to the region for new opportunities. Most of the immigrants came from the Iberian and Italian peninsula, bringing with them their language and their customs, and by the 1960s the region had developed its own language, a mixture of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese, further making the area seem less and less a Part of Russia and more and more a Seperate nation.
In 1970, due to a language barrier, Ixzara and the Soviet Union engaged in hostilities that boasted international support for the region to push for independence that was supported by the 132 Million inhabitants of the province who by now were extremely tired of the oppression that the dictatorship government expelled.
Things seemed to go from bad to worse when in 1974, the Government threatened to drop nukes on the nation if it did not seize to stop the fighting. The nations of Freedomstaki, Pon Aelius and Roma Hawaiiana delivered their own threats to Russia if such an event happened to Ixzara.
In the 1980s things began to take off as the Soviets found themselves about to go bankrupt and with threats pouring in globally and the government on the verge of collapse, decided to retain the region at all costs by blockading the ports of Ixzara and several ports in the Mediterranean and Northern Atlantic ocean. In 1984, Chechnya home to several former-ixzaran exiles, also declared independence further straining the Soviet economy, which collapsed in 1986.
in 1987, several Soviet buffer states began to aid the Russians by lending them military equipment and money, China went far enough as to start giving them ships and Jets to crush the rebellion. When government officials from Pons Aelius were witness to the disaster and catastrophe in the neighboring region, troops were mobilized along the Ixzaran border prepared to do do a total invasion of the area to clear out any active Soviet troop not already taken as a POW.
By 1989, several large areas were falling into Russian hands as lack of funding began creating shortages in the Ixzaran military leaving several gaps in the capabilities in the nations military.
By 1990, things looked grim. Over 60% of the region was now in Soviet hands, and even with the Chechnyan co-revolution, The Soviets were somehow managing to space out their troops and crushing their revolutions.
Relief came late in 1991 when the people of several of the other Soviet provinces grew tired of the constant oppression of their government, and in December of that year decided to over throw it.
This came as good news in the Ixzaran Republic because Russian troops were withdrawn from the area to insure Russia's other borders and because of the Chechnyan co-revolution, and within a period of 6 months, reclaimed its lost territory and began the final assault to claim independence.
And finally, in 1994, cooperative attacks between the Ixzaran Military and Belgian Air Force, were able to successfully capture St. Petersburg in Russia, and almost immediately, peace talks began.
In 1997, an agreement was reached. St. Petersburg would be returned to Russia, if Russia agreed to recognize independence of the region as well as pay the newly formed nation an estimated 235 Billion dollars for damage as well as starting funds, and in 1998 the region declared itself the "Holy Ixzaran Republic". Which by 2003, reached 1st world status and a population of 553 million and counting.
And in 2005, when Russian troop mobilizations were detected near the national border, the Ixzaran Armed Forces made quick of the situation by immediately seizing St. Petersburg.
Although the Russian troops were withdrawn from the Area, the Ixzaran government annexed the city as an Independent Commonwealth in 2006, and challenged the Russian government to attempt to reclaim the city of some 12 million people.
In 2007, Russian leader, Vladimir Putin recognized the Ixzaran claim and withdrew all troops from the area and signed a Non-hostilities pact with the Ixzaran Leader Ricardo Sigala dos Salerno, and resumed in diplomacy with the rest of the world.
In 1997 the country celebrated its bicentennial in its capital, Ciute di Laurana, or Laurana City, with the "Marcha di Los Angeles", a military parade celebrating the victory over which the National Revolutionary Army was successfuly able to recapture Laurana City in 1992. The spectacle was shown worldwide as the march took place in the newly reconstructed capital city on the "Avenida Belgica" or Belgian Avenue, the route the Belgian Army followed during the recapture of the capital in 1992.
