In a press conference earlier today, the correspondent for the Holy Emperor and his cabinent refused to answer whether or not recent troop "excercises" along Roma Hawaiiana's eastern Libyan border were overtly hostile. It is a well known fact that the Vitosopranan "Don" is retiring, and Roma Hawaiiana may be looking to use this event as a distraction to claim the Nile River area and link Cyrenacia to the Holy Land. The President and various Senators also refused to answer questions on the topic, stating that when the issue needed to be addressed it would.

----OFFICIAL NEWS BULLETIN---- Martial law was declared today in the cities and towns along the Egytptian/Libyan border and on the Eygptian/Holy Land border as the First and Second Marine divisions were moved into new positions much closer to Vitosopranan territory. The Royal Navy battleship Traflagar was also ordered out of port in Malta to an undisclosed location in the eastern Mediterranean. In an unofficial poll among Roma Hawaiian citizens, nearly 3/5 said they did not oppose war over Egypt if Vitosoprano was unable to effectively rule the province. However, if war between Vitosoprano and Roma Hawaiiana were to flare up, Malta would be closer to Sicily than its own territories and vulnerable to blockade or invasion.

my dear and trusted friend, please do not mistake my recent inactivity as weakness. it is well known that Vitosoprano came to these lands to foster peace and stability in the region, as well as protecting our interests in pharmaceutical logistics. we now feel that our transportation routes for these products are secure and we will offer to vacate the area, deferring to Roma Hawaiiana, truth be told, other than fortifying supply lines, the occupation otherwise hasn't been as profitable as expected. It has been encouraging to watch Roma develop as a nation and we are equally optimistic that a transfer of power will go smoothly.

Roma Hawaiiana thanks Vitosoprano profusely for its good will in what could have been an unpleasant situation. Egypt should be integrated into the Holy Empire without too much trouble. Shall we set a date for the transfer of the flags? We would not want your leaving to look as if you were forced out. Everything by the book, and under control. What do you think of May 20th as a transfer date? We can have sufficient forces in the area by then to keep order. I also propose a large celebration in the city of Alexandria to celebrate the occasion. Dignitaries from across the Mediterranean would be invited.

I believe that Vitosoprano has the right to his land - and you are getting an bit too megalomaniac on the conquest thing. If there are any problems, the 227th and the 505th Sacred Legions are right now marching to the Bylazoria-Roma Hawaiiana border as we speak, and our missiles are ready and primed for launch.

Cobsigliere: A date of May 20th for the transition is most acceptable to the Don, at this time we'd like to invite dignitaries from all corners of the med to attend.

It is agreed then. The Holy Emperor Raphael and President Starkey will be attending. Do you think we should invite the warring factions leaders as well?

in light of recent events i think inviting both of them would be a mistake, and wishing not to offend either, i also think it is a mistake to invite one of them; therefore, with apologies neither will be invited, but also niether should take a noninvite as an affront.
