What does the karma thing under our number of posts mean?

I've been wondering the same thing.

it seems to be kind of a ratings thing you can exalt (good) someona and give them karma, and i suppose smiting (bad) would decrease karma

I went to a Padres/Giants game while I'm visiting San Diego. All those roids, and Bonds still couldn't hit the magic homer at the one game (out of three) that I bought tickets for. Maybe he should get a refund from BALCO.

dude he's off the juice. there's no way he's not being tested. i'm not defending the guy, but steroids do not help you see or hit the baseball, so in that regard he has to be considered one of the best of all time. steroids merely help you build muscle mass faster and recover from workouts faster, and many other players, pitchers included were juicing (almost everyone only considers hitters juicing). all that being said; The Babe is still my home run champ (aaron had way too many at bats) and if Ruth hadn't pitched for several years in Boston (UGH) he would have had about 800 HRs. Besides all that in about 8-10 years Barroids record will be wiped out by A Rod anyway, he could end up with close to 800, so take heart and ignore barroids when he hits #756*

I realize that he's off the juice now; he's probably got 30 people looking at his pee as we speak. I just don't think that he gets 755 without juicing. He defineatly is one of the best, just not as good as it seems. I was actually one of the few people not shouting "Barry sucks" everytime he got up to bat.

well there is no doubt that the roids helped him play this long, it is kind of sad how we are like sheep and think the way the media tells us to. Right or wrong he has become the poster boy. No one even mention palmeiro anymore; mcgwire is only being besmirched ny the hall of fame voters, sheffield seems to have a free pass and even dares to spew even more BS; giambi apologized for doing "something" but wouldn't say what, lol. and still no mention of any suspects among the pitching ranks other than jason grimsley (who?) and his name is pretty much forgotten.

It is kind of weird the way Barry gets all the attention. Mcqwire has shrunk by about three times since his playing days. All this steroid stuff, and Selig complains about the "Herculean effort" he is making to see Bonds break the record. Gimme a break. He sits in a luxury box every single game, with a laptop and wifi, and all the booze he can desire. I don't know what is worse though, steroids and baseball or the NBA and cheating refs. One (steroids) affects the outcome unfairly while the other can directly decide what happens unfairly.

at least with the roids it's cheating to win, to gain an advantage, not purely for profit as with point shaving
